This was my first time at Skilled Park.
Nice venue and really friendly staff.Good size venue and was great for a school formal.
The slide show was not only shown on the screens inside but also outside on the big scoreboard screen.
Easy job as it doesn't take much to get this age group up dancing and having a good time.
Really well behaved as well.

20th November 2008 Big Brother House

It's been ages since i have posted anything here as we have been so busy.
I haven't had time to edit/film any video so i will post some pictures instead for a while.
Tonight was a xmas party at the Big Brother house.Unfortunately it poured down and a few brave souls weathered the storm to dance in the yard but its hard competing with mother nature.

Tonights wedding was back at Thunderbird Park again.Really nice venue and you can see from the video the mother of the bride done all of the decorations.
Another couple who went for the ever popular Bridal Waltz into crazy dance song routine.It was a last minute decision and the guests got a good laugh out of it.

Small wedding of about 40 people.This was the first time i had been to Thunderbird Park and i found it to be a very nice venue.
After dinner about half of the guests left (mostly elderly) but the remaining guests definitely came to party.The staff even got involved in the dancing with a little help from the best man.
In all it was a really fun night and Scott & Rachael were both really great people as were their guests which makes my job a lot easier.

July 26 & 27 2008 Weddings

Bit slow with updates and haven't had much time to film much but these are 2 weddings over the weekend of the 26th July (Lawnton Community Hall) and the 27th July (F!X Restaurant).
Both really great nights and lots of fun.The second one has the increasingly popular regular bridal waltz into an upbeat dance song.You may have seen these on you tube and we have had many couples request this recently.

50th Birthday Party - 28th June 2008 - Redcliffe Bowling Club

Tonight was a small turnout.Apparantly a lot of the invited guests didn't show.They missed out on a great party.
As you can see from the video it was a surprise party but the other surprise was the birthday girl's kids had flown up from Sydney to attend.
There's not much i can say about tonight that you can't see in the video.Everyone drank,sang & danced the night away.Karaoke was also setup however there wasn't a lot of takers.Most of them just sang along to whatever was playing.
From my experience the smaller parties quiet often turn out to be some of the best as witnessed tonight.

Wedding 27th June 2008 - Sunset Blue - Scarbourough

Tonights wedding was at Morgan's Sunset Blue function centre at Scarborough.As you can see by the video the load in is one of the worst in Brisbane as far as stairs go which means i can't take my full rig which i usually wheel into venues due to the weight and size of it.
The wedding was only small ,maybe 50 ppl & 20 of them were kids.
The bride & groom are massive Powderfinger fans and instead of table numbers each table was a Powderfinger album.Great original idea that i hadn't seen done before.
Tough crowd to get up dancing but the adults had there hands full looking after the kids which didn't make things any easier.
The couple gave me a playlist of mainly Powderfinger,Matchbox 20 & pub rock type tracks which a lot of people are happy to listen to while chatting and having a drink.Just because the dance floor is not full all night doesn't mean they didn't have a good time.

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron - Rob and Fiona *(note the Dancing Queen during the bridal waltz was done by me when i was editing the video by mistake and definately didn't happen at the wedding)

I have been djing many weddings at this venue lately and have quiet a few coming up.Bit of a country crowd and many older guests tonight.All went really well as usual and everybody had a good time.
Unfortunately i don't get to get a good shot of a lot of the formalities as i am usually conducting them but i managed to get a bit of the bouqet and garter toss tonight.

For the technically minded this was the first event i have done using the Numark D2 Director and i was very happy with it.Nice bit of equipment.
The other equipment used was a B52 Matrix 1000 system,Icolor 4 and ImpossibLED lights.

Saturday 14th June 2008 Wedding Rugby Club,Brisbane

Tonights wedding was at the soon to be gone rugby club.It has a great view of the story bridge and Brisbane river.The photographer had requested i bring the plasma screen along for a photo slide show that didn't end up happening for some reason so i ended up using it for video clips during the dancing.This was the perfect example of where there was no way a video projector would have been possible due to space.
The bride and groom had picked the majority of the music they liked for the night and it went really well.The idea of the Vengaboys song for the conga line was theirs and as you can see its a great way of getting people out of their seats.

Friday 13th June 2008 Awards Night - Colmslie Hotel,Morningside

Tonight was a karaoke,trivia and video disco at the Colmslie Hotel.I hosted the trivia so i couldn't manage to get any of it on film.It went really well and the organisers had arranged some games in between each round which also went down really well.
Tonight this crowd bought their singing voices and the karaoke was a big success.
Also in the video you can see the projector screen we use (space allowing).

Up to Glengariff again.Another great wedding.Lots of fun.
A really popular venue with us.It didn't take long to realize they wanted to hear the classic party stuff.
Every wedding is different and a good dj will be able to read the dancefloor and play to it.
